Abstract
We consider the factors which modify the treatment of epilepsy during adolescence: decision to start treatment, choice of the most suitable drug and its administration, the information which should be given to the adolescents and their families, the frequency, characteristics of follow-up visits whilst treatment is maintained and of its discontinuation, with particular emphasis on quality of life as the basic objective of the treatment of adolescents with epilepsy.
Resumen
Se refieren los factores que modulan el tratamiento antiepiléptico durante la adolescencia: decisión del comienzo del tratamiento, elección del fármaco y de la pauta terapéutica idóneas, contenido de la información que debe facilitarse a los adolescentes y a los familiares, frecuencia y características de los controles a lo largo del tratamiento, y supresión del mismo, poniendo especial énfasis en la calidad de vida como objetivo fundamental del tratamiento del adolescente con epilepsia
